If you’d like to learn to play the flute with confidence, skill, and joy, I am certainly glad you’re here.  My name is Jen, and I currently have openings for remote students, as well as in-person students in the NoVa area.

 

I find it thrilling to share my passion for craft and the love of playing the flute with my highly motivated and gifted students. I teach excellence and enjoyment through the material that my students are currently working on: band music, audition preparation, jazz, or even a pop tune you just can’t stop humming. I will tailor my teaching to fit your specific learning needs.

 

I will endeavor to show you how to practice effectively, and turn you into your own best teacher. At any age or ability level, it is possible to play with great joy and great skill. I hope to partner with you on this journey!

 

•ABOUT ME•

 

I graduated with my Bachelors in Flute Performance from Queens College, the Aaron Copland School of Music. Since then, I have worked as a freelance flutist, librarian, and teacher in both the DC and NY metro areas.

 

During the pandemic, I have enjoyed maintaining a fully virtual studio and am excited to integrate remote learning with in-person education when it is safe and comfortable for my students to do so. I have been teaching privately for over 7 years, and enjoy every one of my students and support them throughout their own unique and personal journeys.

 

We are all a part of a vast flute lineage, and I am blessed to have been a student of great flutists. My teachers have instilled in me influential practicing and teaching philosophies that I enjoy sharing with my students. My experience learning from principal players of the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, etc., inform how I teach today. I look forward to sharing their tips and tricks for practicing and performing with you, too.
