Kenny Werner brings a unique perspective to the table as a jazz pianist and as someone who practices transcendental meditation. Werner attributes much of his mental quiet to meditation and affirmation, but also brings to the table relevant discussion regarding his personal experience in the field regarding some practically applicable skills in practicing for performing. Werner also discusses the “alpha state”: a concept in which Alpha and Beta brain waves can be measured and reveal the level of focus of an individual. Don Greene discusses this in both of his aforementioned books as well.
